When a fan in Brazil began transforming himself into his favorite pop star, both from the inside as well as from the outside, he took hero-worship to a whole new level. After a number of procedures that would make a Beverly Hills facelift look like a cake walk, this fan turned himself into the moon-walking, high note-hitting music legend’s likeness. As if that wasn’t enough, he also sings and dances like the star now. Daily Mail Online correspondent James Rush reports on the life and times of this super fan.
Antonio Gleidson Rodrigues, 32, the self-proclaimed number one Michael Jackson impersonator in Brazil, has had rhinoplasty in order to imitate the King Of Pop and spends around four hours each day rehearsing his dance moves.
Gleidson Jackson, as he likes to be known, had his first operation five years ago when he had his nasal septum corrected to allow him to reach higher notes when singing.
For the love of Mike
Before becoming a full time Michael Jackson impersonator, Rodrigues was a drama teacher who was told by his students that he resembled the King of Pop. After being gifted with a Michael Jackson video, there was no turning back as his love grew into obsession and drove him to transform himself.
Following his first bid at surgery, Gliedson, of Fortalenza, continued in his mission to imitate the world famous pop star by having hyaluronic acid injected into his face, which had a whitening effect, and botox injections to enhance the area under his eyes.
He’s got the moves
Rodrigues also prides himself in being able to sing and dance like Michael Jackson. He spends hours practicing song and dance routines, and even went as far as having nasal septum correction done to make his voice higher.
Gonna make a change
When asked about his future plans, Rodrigues intends to raise money to have his cheekbones and eyebrows enhanced to complete his transformation. Who knows, his goal to “be like Mike” might even result in Rodrigues having a face lift in Los Angeles where renowned facial plastic surgeons, like Dr. Davis Nguyen M.D., practice the art of facial rejuvenation.
Some believe Rodrigues is insane for losing himself in a celebrity’s aura. Others are convinced it’s simply his passion for the man and his music. Either way, Gleidson is at peace with what he does; should that make his critics beat it?
